Lately Brock likes to sleep on his side.  If I get him into a deep sleep in my arms, I can lay him down and steal an extra hour or two in the mornings to get things done around the house or with the girls. I confess he's a bit spoiled and mostly spends most nights sleeping on my chest or in my arms.  Not because I'm prone to doing that -but because it's the only way he'll stay asleep at night! The co-sleeper? 5 minutes, sometimes 10 before he's awake and crying. I think it's because he doesn't like to sleep flat on his back.  The last two nights I stuck a pillow under his mattress to elevate it a bit, and that did help, but he's also a roller!! and this morning he had rolled sideways on the incline (:   O well... I don't mind sleeping with him in my arms, he's awfully sweet!! (:

Brock now has 3 buddies so very close to his age!!! Introducing David Israel Gash 8 lbs 11 ounces    Born to Jon  & Jacqui Gash  on August 26, 2011 Look at all that hair! He's competing closely w/ Brock's other BFF Hudson Garrett Jones (pictures to come as soon as I get my camera uploaded to a computer w/ internet OR as soon as I steal a pix from Kenzie! he he)

There's not much sweeter moments to spend than with a baby sleeping on your chest! These times fly by and I just want them to last. OOOO... I love my baby!

Two of the sweetest little boys you ever did see....!     Left: Baby K (approx 9 1/2 lbs) Right: Baby Brock (approx 8 lbs) These two are as different as night and day!  K is so alert and has a beautiful wide eyed stare.  He seems to just follow you with his eyes.  Koa is very content (most of the time!) and Brock is Mr. Discontent! (: (Don't worry we love him anyway!) Koa is already pudging out while Brock still seems so tiny.  If Brock is anything like Natalee, he'll be chubby in the not too near future! It's so very fun to have these two so sweet and little together!  What a special time for Naomi & I to share!

Papa turned 55 this past week!!  We met him at Coldstone in Albany for an ice cream party and we forced him into this shot (: He really isn't quite comfortable with the whole baby stage.  He called me last week to see if Brock wanted to come over and weld in his shop with him.  I'm sure he's probably asked Naomi if Baby K is ready for a tractor ride.  This shot is just precious tho' and we're  excited to see how Papa grows with these sweet baby boys.

How sweet to capture his first coos on camera!

At one month, Brock has gained 2 lbs (from 6lbs to 8lbs 1 oz!).  He is more alert and has longer periods of contentment.  He has started cooing a little and those sounds are just so very sweet.  He also has these crazy periods of screaming - we're not quite sure if it's always gas, but it's often because he is gassy.  During those times Johnny is the pro... swaddling him and bouncing/rocking him and getting him to sleep. The girls are in LOVE with their sweet little brother.  We have lots of "holding" sessions where he is passed from sister to sister until he is mad enough to put an end to all the passing (:   They are also so very helpful in getting any and everything mommy needs at a moment's notice. I am adjusting well to being a mommy of 4.  Everything takes on a slower pace at home and getting out the door.  I give myself about an hour extra to do what I used to do w/ three.  Once we're out and about, it's a mad flurry of trying...

  I am so thankful for my sweet baby boy. 

2 weeks + 1 day old I just. might. be. in. love.

My wonderful church family threw Brock a shower the Thursday we came home from the hospital (for the final time, thank goodness!) There was beautiful food...    Sweet friends and family...  A fabulous photographer....   Lovely gifts...   a proud sister.... (Shyanne and Hollie chose playing w/ the Rice kids over attending the shower!) :) And lastly... a darling baby!   We were so very blessed! Thank you to all our sweet friends and family. 

They are doing so well!  They LOVE being big sisters and are always willing to help momma with anything related to baby Brock.   I am SO THANKFUL to Maga (my Mother-in-law) for taking them on several occasions to just give this Mommy a break!  It has been a total blessing in this huge transition.

I just went to the dermatologist and I'm feeling the need to actually begin taking care of my skin - I'm getting old ya know! Now that I'm in my 30's... I guess this is something I need to start focusing on a little more.  I just read an article that talked about the need to moisturize from head-to-toe. Something I RARELY ever do.
