Barton Baby Number 6

We are excited to announce the last & deeply loved, Barton Baby Number 6!!! Can't wait to meet this little love come February 2016!

A date day & night!

A few months back, my mother in law agreed to take all 5 kiddos overnight so Johnny & I could get away.  It was much needed. Our dates tend to be short, and (maybe) monthly (I know, bad!) so it was a welcomed break! We stayed Thursday night at her house, and bright and early Friday morning, I jumped in the car with Johnny and headed to Portland.  Since he had to be at work at 7am, I had a LOT of time to kill.  I spent the morning exploring the area of town near where he works. I found a Target that opened at 8am, and spent some time there.  I checked out local coffee shops, read a book, discovered a hidden-away Trader Joes. I stopped at a hole in the wall pizza shop and stumbled upon Salt & Straw (We had already made plans to try out S&S that evening.... we both had never been!) I browsed shop after shop along 23rd... taking my time... just enjoying that fact that I didn't have to be ANYWHERE, and I didn't have ANYONE demanding that I be ...

Mt Hood Ski Bowl & the Alpine Slide we never rode

Every summer, the company Johnny works for hosts a special family day at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl.  We were so excited to take the kids on the Alpine Slide! We showed them videos, told stories of our childhood, and pretty much built the anticipation to a crescendo.  The day arrived, dreary and gray.  Literally, the ONLY day the entire summer, that it wasn't in the 90's. OF COURSE. We headed out, SURE the rain wouldn't fall and ruin our day. But as we boarded the lift, the mist became heavier.    By the time we had reached the top, we were wet. Very wet. We didn't let the dampness damper our spirits, and we stopped to pose for this pic, right before boarding the slide toboggans .  By the time it was our turn to ride down, the ride had been closed. We waited for 20 minutes or so, hoping, beyond hope, that the rain would let up and they would dry off the slide. But to no avail. We just kept getting wetter. And as you can see from the pic... Bro...

A little Spring Break get-away!

Spring break was beautiful at the beach! We headed down for a day trip to do whatever we pleased! We started in Depoe Bay to check out some shops and the whale watching exhibits.  The kids were excited to try to spot some whales... and the visitor/ whale-watching center was super helpful in pointing out blowholes and helping us know where to look!  Beautiful girls!!!!!  They decided the anchor was a good picture-op!      Nonnie and Papa met us a few hours later. They were heading to the Sandcastle Inn in Lincoln City for a night away. We were so amazed by the gorgeous weather, we decided to try to secure a last minute room as well... we just wanted to stay forever!! Having my parents there, meant I actually got a picture with my kiddos! Yay!! Nonnie & Papa's hotel room was literally 10 feet from the sand! We played for hours!!! Papa taught the kids the ins & outs of a good construction hole! :) ...
