Natalee arrived healthy and beautiful at 11:31 pm on March 22. She was a little bruised from all the hard work. She had this piercing little scream that daddy nicknamed the "pterodactyl" screech! So sweet.
I on the other hand... didn't get to experience much of Natalee's first few hours in our world. The nurse said my blood pressure was sky high because I was in so much pain. I remember yelling at the dr's toward the end of my c-section "I can feel that! That hurts!" but they didn't pay much attention to me! My hours in recovery are a blur. I was exhausted and since I didn't have my contacts in, I couldn't seem to keep my eyes open. I remember asking what times it was and Johnny telling me it was around 2 am. YIKES! I remember saying "Get the family in here! Allison has to leave for Mexico in 2 hours!" The family came in, and then Allison, Patti etc. quickly followed. We introduced Natalee Grace Barton to Naomi and told her that Natalee was named after her. She was touched. (she cried)... Allison got to see Natalee (after a 29 hr wait!) and then she rushed off to Mexico on a trip w/ Sarah Cast. The rest of the family stayed a bit longer and then headed home. (Dad & Jen had already gone home.... they didn't get to see Natalee till the next day). Again, the next few hours were a blur. I know I was eventually transfered up to the recovery floor.
Breast feeding came naturally and Natalee was a good eater. What a relief! Daddy snapped a few pictures of Natalee's first bath... they didn't even give him an option of doing it ):
We had lots of visitors, but like I said, those 3 days in the hospital are a big blur... a big beautiful blur!
