I started reading 15 Minutes Outside: 365 ways to get outside and connect with your kids by Rebecca P Cohen after reading a review by 4tunate Momma. I was really inspired by all the winter ideas and encouragement to get out even on those cold days! Today wAs our first shot. I'll be honest. I dont like to go out on these days because 1) Hollie has terrible circulation and is ALWAYS cold. And she whines. And i lose my patience with her. And 2)it takes soooo long to get everyone dressed and weather proof'd. Kids start whining about sleeves stuck up on coats, not being able to find a glove, wanting that something special that just got left inside now that we all have our boots on, etc. It can be exhausting!
That all said, I really was feeling fresh inspiration for getting my kids out! The author has lots of suggestions for making getting ready to head out easier: bins where all their warm clothes are stashed at the end of each time so it's easy to find the next time, a box of outdoor equipment ready & accessible, flashlights for evening walks, etc.
Today we had about 30 minutes before Johnny had to leave for work, Brock was sleeping, so the girls and I headed out for a cold winter's walk!
Bundling up actually took us longer than the actual walk. I tried not to get discouraged and just think of new ways to make it easier next time!

Huge thanks to Granny Brock for their new winter coats!! These should easily last 2 years! What a blessing!

I was laughing so hard at the girls mismatched outfits, gloves, hats etc. With their dainty new skirts from Maga poking out underneath their bulky winter attire! He he

And of course... The awkward run caused by rubber boots that are a hair too big! :)

The main point is, they had fun, Hollie didn't whine too much (not from cold anyway!!), and I'm feeling inspired to do it again!

(let me know if the videos are working!)
